BLACK PANTHERS: REVOLUTION
A powerful collection documenting the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, one of the most influential and controversial revolutionary organizations in American history. This collection features iconic photographs of Black Panther members in their signature black berets and leather jackets, images of their community headquarters where they organized free breakfast programs and health clinics, and pages from The Black Panther newspaper that spread their message of Black power and self-determination. Founded in 1966 by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the Panthers combined militant self-defense with community service programs that fed children, provided healthcare, and educated communities. These images capture both the revolutionary spirit and the practical activism that made the Panthers a powerful force for Black liberation during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
